Presenting “Young Frankenstein” in June
History Boy Theater Company in downtown Jefferson has been entertaining and delighting theater lovers for more than 10 years. History Boy announced last week the professional theater is now a non-profit organization (and honestly, most theaters are.)
Throughout its existence, History Boy has provided educational experiences for all ages. Last year the troupe introduced more than 700 area students to the joys of live theater, music and comedy, as well as hosting fundraising events for the community. With the new non-profit status, History Boy hopes to bring theater alive to many more audiences across the region.
To kick off the inaugural season as a non-profit, History Boy Theater will present Mel Brooks’ musical comedy, “Young Frankenstein,” the story of the Frankenstein monster with a humorous twist. The 140-seat theater provides the audience with an intimate, up close and personal view of all the action on stage. With help from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, this smash hit from Broadway also introduces a new state-of-the-art production feature to give the audience a truly immersing experience.
“Young Frankenstein” will kick off during the Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson. Showtimes are 7 pm on June 7, 8, 14, & 15, and 2 pm. June 9 & 16. Tickets will go on May 1, 2019. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online at https://www.showtix4u.com/events/16432 or in the shop during business hours, by phone 515-370-5369 or by messaging the History Boy Theater Company on Facebook.
Typical productions at History Boy Theater require as many as 2400 hours per show. The actors, director and production managers put in numerous hours. But the show cannot go on with the help of volunteers. Whether your passion is in set design, costumes, make-up, or you just want to be part of the excitement of a live show, History Boy wants you. For volunteer opportunities, please contact Samantha at 515-370-2532
History Boy Theater is located at the back of the RVP 1875 Furniture Shop and working museum in the historic Milligan Lumber Company building, 115 S. Wilson Ave., Jefferson, IA 50129.
